In 1998, an award was inaugurated in honor of Dr. Robert Sperber, to be given to an administrator in the Brookline Public Schools who best exemplifies his ideals. Dr. Sperber was Superintendent of Schools in Brookline from 1964 to 1982. This award honors an educator who evinces excellence in both administrative management and strong leadership skills that have brought about positive improvement in the school system. These are ideals that Dr. Sperber espoused and practiced.

Vicki C. Milstein Early Education Fund
As a tribute to Ms. Milstein’s remarkable dedication to early education in Brookline, the Commonwealth, and the nation, the BEF established the Vicki C. Milstein Early Education Fund. The fund supports grants to preschool and kindergarten teachers through the BEF’s Teacher and Collaborative Grant programs to enhance the art of teaching in the early childhood classroom. Robert Weintraub Fund
As a tribute to Dr. Weintraub’s legacy and leadership for positive change to the Brookline High School the BEF established the Robert Weintraub Fund. The fund supports grants to educators at the Brookline High School, administered through the BEF’s regular teacher and collaborative grant cycle every year.
